Eureka! The Museum for Children

Eureka! – The Museum for Children implemented the Gamma LeisurePOS system to provide them with a fully integrated, end–to–end operational management system.

Background
Eureka! – The Museum for Children is the first and foremost hands-on children's museum in the UK and is designed especially for 0–11 year olds.

The museum has over 400 must–touch exhibits and runs a full program of events and activities for groups and individual visitors.

Eureka! is an educational charity and not-for-profit organisation.

In 2004, Gamma Dataware successfully tendered for the supply of admissions, bookings and event management, retail point of sale, stock control and purchase order processing and membership management systems.

As a registered charity, the museum also required to process Gift Aid transactions as part of the visitor admissions process.

The Gamma LeisurePOS system installed provided a completely integrated solution covering all of the museums operational requirements. The system also included facilities to manage school group itineraries to handle the flow of school groups through the attraction.

In April 2006, coinciding with new legislation for Gift Aid, the museum deployed hand held data capture units to fast track visitors through the Gift Aid process.

Solution
The Gamma LeisurePOS solution supplied to Eureka included:

• Admissions and Gift Aid
• Retail POS and stock control
• Booking and event management
• Membership

The POS, booking and membership modules also include on–line credit card authorisation.

Seamless integration with Eureka’s accounting system was also provided so that sales and income data is passed directly to the accounting system from the LeisurePOS modules.

Gamma Dataware also worked closely with Eureka! to provide a series of data export queries that allow them to easily produce a series of complex in-house reports for trustees.
